Join the Historical Society on March 12, 2023 at 4 pm as we welcome author Marty Podskoch for an illustrated talk on the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps and their work here in Connecticut.
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began on March 31, 1933 under President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” to relieve the poverty and unemployment of the Depression. Workers built trails, roads, campsites, dams, maintained fire towers, telephone lines and planted millions of trees. In Connecticut there were 21 CCC camps. Marty Podskoch is a retired teacher, author and journalist. His fun and informative book, Connecticut 169 Club, is an essential travel guide for those exploring our state.
Light refreshments will be provided.
