Join us at the Congregational Church Hall on April 8th at 7pm for a special presentation by Dr. David Leslie, who has recently overseen new ground-penetrating radar studies at Easton’s Den Cemetery. Learn more about his research at this historically significant integrated burial ground, its importance in Connecticut’s African American history, and how Easton’s Cemetery Committee is working with local and state partners to ensure its preservation.
Dr. Leslie is the Director of Archaeological Research at Heritage Consultants, as well as a Research Scientist in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut and the President of the Archaeological Society of Connecticut. Dr. Leslie also actively participates on various boards of regional archaeological societies, including the Conference on New England Archaeology, the Eastern State Archaeological Federation, and serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Northeast Anthropology.
This is a free event with a suggested donation of $10 dollars to help fund maintenance and restoration efforts at Easton’s historic cemeteries. https://historical-society-of-easton.yapsody.com/event/index/842143/den-cemetery-ground-penetrating-radar-analysis
