Giving Tuesday – 2025

The leftovers are in the fridge, Black Friday sales are going on, Small Business Saturday is almost here, and Cyber Monday is right behind it. After all that, we hope you still have a little energy left for Giving Tuesday; the day that keeps local nonprofits going.

The Historical Society of Easton isn’t just a collection of old photos. We work to protect the town’s historic places and keep Easton’s stories alive. And we stay busy.

This year we:

  • Partnered with the Staples Academy Foundation to help preserve Easton’s oldest public building.
  • Produced talks, events, and helped bring the Tunnels to Towers exhibit to town.
  • Worked with the Fairfield County Chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America to recreate the Sport Hill Races.
  • Continued our partnership with the Congregational Church of Easton to bring people together in celebrating the season; this year with storytelling and reenactments.
Recreating the Sport Hill Races.

And we’re not slowing down.

Coming up in 2026:

  • As a CT250 designated affiliate, the Historical Society of Easton will take part in a three-town bus tour with Fairfield and Weston, highlighting historic spots we all share commemorating our nation’s250th anniversary.
  • A joint exhibit with Weston celebrating Sarah Wheeler Hoyt Treadwell, a woman whose life connects directly to the Revolutionary War and the 250th anniversary of our nation.

We love doing this work, but we can’t do it alone. If you believe in preserving the stories and places that make Easton unique, we’d be grateful for your support this Giving Tuesday. Everything we do is powered by you. Literally. We don’t receive a single dollar from the town or the State of Connecticut. Our work survives only because the community we serve believes in it.

But as our programs keep growing, the financial support around us keeps shrinking. And this year, we’ve got an extra challenge: our historic Adams Schoolhouse needs a full repaint and some serious love for its period correct cedar shake roof. The estimated cost? $11,000. It’s a big project, but it’s also one we can tackle together.

Exterior of the building needs to prepped, windows need to be reglazed, and shutters stripped and painted.

We’re asking for help from the people who benefit the most from what we do – our community.

And here’s the truth: every contribution makes an impact-and every dollar donated through our fund-raising efforts goes directly towards preservation. No gift is too small to matter, and no gift is too big to make a difference.

We also have more maintenance projects coming up, and the more we raise now, the more events and experiences we can continue to provide for free for everyone in the community.

So please, let’s keep preserving Easton, together.
